Pinoy kids win honors in China Junior Math Olympiad

All sixteen members of the five teams representing the Philippines through the Mathematics Trainers’ Guild (MTG) were awarded 3rd place Certificates in the Individual contest from the recently concluded China Junior High School Math Olympiad held in Shijiezhuang, China on August 5 to 10, 2007.
The members of the Philippine team who were awarded with 3rd place certificates both in the first and second part of the contest were John Carlo Chua- Grace Christian High School, Sammy Chua- Chiang Kai Shek College, Ram Nealson Lim- Tarlac Montessori School, Jim Darell Ang- Lanao Chung Hua School, Hanz Vladimir Cabanes- Zamboanga Chong Hua High School, Jamaica Marie Clata- Lyceum Northwestern University, Joel Edward Cardinal- Makati Science High School and Jonni Fay Teves of Philippine Science High School-Southern Mindanao Campus.
The other eight members of the Philippine team received 3rd place certificates in the first part of the test were Rosauro Dividina- Integrated Development School MSU-IIT, Herbie Bella- Canossa Academy, Jim Franklin Kalaw- Naga City Science High School, Mark Pavia- Aquinas University Science High School, Dianne Faith Cirunay- Tagbilaran City Science High School, Jessica Gamboa- Grace Christian High School, Michael John Calanog- Colegio San Agustin-Makati, and Noelle Poala Santos- Manila Science High School.
Philippine Team A composed of John Carlo Chua, Sammy Chua, and Ram Nealson Lim was awarded as the Best Foreign Team. Aside from the academic contest, the Philippine team bested other foreign contenders in the basketball tournament which made the Pinoy kids receive a trophy for ending up a champion.
