Bayantel PLDT mydsl Globe dsl 2008 review
June 5, 2008 by dragon
Sure, they've raised their mainstream speeds anywhere from 256 to 384kbps, but what has really changed? Sadly, there is no best plan to choose from as of this time. Maybe the whole Philippines is oversubscribed vis a vis their undersea cable capacities.
For PLDT, residential or business plans alike, same old PLDT problem of connection dropping or zero bandwidth problems. The latter means you are still connected but no data coming in our going out. The former is self explanatory, meaning frequent disconnects. And the very pressing problem of not giving us our advertised speeds. Add to that the perennial problem of having too tough a time to get through to their tech support. There is also the problem of competence level of their tech supports!
For Bayantel, what else can be said but they've actually turned into PLDT and worse? For all the symptoms of PLDT described above, you can only give one point to Bayantel for having a more competent team of tech people, that is, if you can get through to their hotline 411 2000 now. Their tech guy says, "pasensya na po, dumami kasi subscribers". With this, lag time for page loads increased tremendously, flinging me back to the dial up age speed. Add to this their smtp problems. I've had an email sent to me May 20 2008 arriving only yesterday, June 4, 2008. Outbound, 9 out of 10, the email will refuse smtp connection, and thus refuse sending. When confronted with this intermittent email problem, other tech guy says " pasensya na po, sir, inaantay pa namin dumami yung reklamo before we can escalate to the technicians"!!!! After much knocking on their door, they finally acknowledge to get to the bottom of things, with the occasional notion mentioning that "maybe it is mine, the user's fault" because of routers, or anti virus or firewall.
For Globe dsl, to sum it up, I've had some people writing me when they hit CONTACT US on the link above, thinking I represent the blogged-about institutions. Well, I don't. I only represent me, and this Finance Manila website. But here are excerpts of her email wrongly addressed to me, which was supposed to be for Globe Telecoms DSL:

We were subscribers for a long time with globe lines.
I am sorry to say as a foreigner here I think your company treats its clients with out heart and treats their clients like shit. For a long time we had continuous Internet problems with our broadband.
I am in the local media and I am popular and I am heavily depended on to come up with news.I have many a headache and always problem when I was paying for Internet but not getting a good service.
I always payed the bills monthly and when my husband went back to work as a seaman in the first couple of months his money went into the wrong account andit caused us to get lagged up but some 120 U.S. dollars.
We were with you almost for three years and I should have rode your ass's harder for how are service was (ALWAYS HUNG).
Even in my sons IT school we were also paying again for Globe line but the school STI in Bohol also had service problems with you at Bohol Branch accordingto my son.
I always had to spend extra money in travel and for time at Internet cafes just to get my news written and most of the time it was always in at the lastminute.
You treat I will repeat people like shit and should be highly ashamed of yourselves!I am not abusing the system how you Philippine persons abuse my trust infriendship or in your services.
I do not like being treated as if I am some scum when your company is sleazy in its products an to add mahal for a third world country.
Our bills always came late like less then a weeks time to prepare for the payment. IN the states they give people a chance and treat their clients great as theyshould be treated and customer is always right.
Look at my record for every time i had to call your technician because your modem was too hot or could not keep up?
I spent countless times waiting on hold because always a problem with Visayan Mindanao subscriber's.
Why should I pay for a service when I am not getting my 100%
