HK investors said banks “mis-informed” them regarding Lehman minibonds

9 October 2008

Investors in Hongkong are demanding a full refund of their investment in banks who have sold them Lehman minibonds.  Most of the investors, who have invested their life savings into the bonds, claimed that the banks told them that their investment was guaranteed.  The government already  has planned to buy back the said bonds at market value which will entitle the investors to get 60%-70%.  But the investors are not satisfied, they want 100% back.  The total amount of investment is said to be worth HK$12.5billion.  The government is also investigating if the claims that the banks "misrepresented" the bonds are true.
