I have not used Globe Tattoo, but my Smartbro prepaid had been my companion during my trip to western Mindanao (Mis Occ / Zambo Norte / Zambo Sur). Even in GPRS/Edge areas, I was able to browse and trade (with COL) while mobile. My only hindrance was the battery life of my laptop which sucks.

I concur with boss d’s assessment. They have a very nice chart to look at while you’re waiting for the download, but the service is utterly useless, even in an elevated location far away from any possible source of EMI – even if my Globe cell signal shows 3-4 bars.

Hello! We thank you for this feedback and we’re very sorry to hear that the unit doesn’t meet your expectations just yet. We are currently working on ways to improve our services, and you’ll notice an increase in performance in the coming weeks. This kind of feedback is very valuable to us. Maybe you can tell us your location so we know where to focus. Thanks, again, sir.

Should you have any more concerns, maybe our technical teams can help you out. You can get in touch with them at (02) 7301000 from any Globe landline or 211 from any Globe mobile phone.

    Thanks!

consumers should not merely tell you which specific locations you should focus at, because connection of such product should be readily available anywhere, on demand. how could you expect users to use your product, then after failing, tell you that it failed on so and so place, and only then will you patch the hole? such holes should already be patched when your product was launched (twice at that). feel free to get in touch with me via CONTACT US button when you have a better improved product for demo that we can use and test anywhere.

I agree that Globe Tattoo SUCKS bigtime! I just bought this a couple of weeks ago and have spent almost 1000 pesos for an estimate of a 5 hour connection with 5x or more disconnects every hour, 0.00 dload and upload every 15-20 mins, and a lot more inconvenience, not to mention the inefficient tech support i talked to…this is a clear rip-off and i hope NTC has a desk where consumers can report false advertisement and consumer rip-off from companies who’s only concern is to take money from consumers and not fulfill their obligations.

So…I decided to implement some lessons learned here at FM. I cut loss and recognize that the trend is my friend. I’m happily humming about now with 180-495kbps speeds on WCDMA.

  8. dragon on October 14th, 2009 10:38 pm

    how does that work boss

  9. aguinaldo on October 16th, 2009 2:14 am

Hi boss dragon…I went with Smart Bro :)

  10. omfg on October 22nd, 2009 7:39 pm

my house is next to a globe tower..so no worries about speed coz its fast..but maybe globe shud concentrate on expanding on provincial areas…

  11. Reiman on November 1st, 2009 5:59 pm

    I agree with dragon,

Why should Globe just focus on specific areas? Is Globe trying to alienate the rest of its customers who are suffering from poor coverage and services by their mobile broadband but are not posting their complaints on the internet???

Globe, if you have any sense of decency (and still want to keep your loyal costumers who, despite your poor and shoddy performance, are sticking with you anyway), try to fix your service on a NATIONAL level. Try to have all your bases covered, not just where the problem is at. USB modems are meant for MOBILITY and i do suspect this is what most people bought it for. BE PROACTIVE, not reactive.

I see a lot of complaints about your services from people all over the country, and sadly i agree with everyone of them. I have a Globe Tattoo and Smart Bro USB modem and have tried them both in a lot of locations around the Philippines (take note: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao), in cities, towns, and even remote areas. Smart Bro was the most consistent in terms of connection reliability. Even at GPRS speed, i was never disconnected nor did my download speed drop significantly unlike Globe Tattoo which suddenly drops download speed to 0kbps even on full signal where 3G and HSDPA speed is abundant! What the heck is that all about???

  12. Jhovy on November 6th, 2009 10:10 am

Grabe this Globe Tattoo SUCKS!!!!!! sobra… grabe.. sobrang bagal.. TATOO_TAGAL grabe.. nakakairita lang talaga

  13. ken on November 9th, 2009 6:05 pm

Yeah, Globe Tattoo sucks ass. I live in Eastwood and all I get is a 1kbps speed. Aside from that, you get disconnected for no reason at all. I was told that even Globe employees discourage their friends not to use this crap since Globe’s cell sites are not yet “HSDPA-ready/capable”. A big round of applause for deceiving the public globe! No wonder Sharon Cuneta opted to use Smart.

  14. James on November 11th, 2009 4:09 am

Globe Tatoo?!…That product is an absolute joke!… I was a Globe subscriber for nearly a decade. I got my Globe Tatoo as a rebate for their incompetence. I accepted the thing even if I had no need for it. Just so happens that it’s readily in my laptop bag in case I need it. What do you know, I needed an internet connection and had to use the little crap! IT WAS A WORTHLESS PIECE OF JUNK!!!…I had to go to the nearest Coffee Bean just to connect to the internet just to send a single page report. Tried to use it during my free time and oh yes, it does nothing but disconnect every 5 seconds. How annoying is that?! After being fed up with Globe’s service and over charging, which by the way they charged me for P10,000 for mobile internet on my iPhone I don’t use, I decided to terminate my plan regardless of them giving me more rebates. And here’s the kicker, they verified that my iPhone was not connecting to the internet nor are the notifications disabled. Hell, I’m not paying for that shit! Next day, switched to Smart, and have been a happy camper for the past 2 months. At least SMART’s customer service calls you back when you have an issue. Try that with Globe, you won’t even hear a blip!!! Customer Service Sucks, Products Sucks BIG TIME! I bought a SMART BRO mobile internet stick for the heck of it, and hey IT WORKS ALL THE TIME! Talk about reliability even on GPRS/ EDGE, all the more with a 3G/ HSDPA connection. I wouldn’t blame people if they actually break loyalty and switch to a better network. I’M GLAD I DID!

  15. jamie on November 16th, 2009 8:16 pm

arrrrgh! really globe’s making my life difficult!!grrr!
what’s all about their advertisements and commercials?!
    liars!! hate them!

  16. Aderlyn on November 18th, 2009 10:10 am

What can I say? 1 of my greatest frustrations is buying that globe tattoo kit. Its not worth anything. My room is not near the window which makes getting a good connection more impossible. If globe had only been so smart they should have considered all areas as long as there is globe signal. My god! I can’t even visit my favorite websites. The conncection fails while still loading the page. Globe, i know you’re not deaf. PLease respond to these negative feedbacks.
    A.S.A.P!

  31. Ronald on December 1st, 2009 10:50 pm

Gamit ko Sun Postpaid. Amazingly, mas reliable ung Sun namin kaysa sa Globe Postpaid DSL line namin! At labas kami ng coverage area ng Sun.

I don’t know what Globe is thinking or if they’re even thinking.

  32. Winston on January 2nd, 2010 9:47 pm

Globe tattoo is ripping me off! They had no connection all day and when I log on, they give me ZERO speed and charged me 20 pesos per hour, for ZERO speed! In other words, when you sign on and there is no connection, YOU STILL GET CHARGED! CHEATERS!

They are CHEATING me!!!!!!! In America, the company would reimburse you for this, but Globe? No way, they are takers and liars. They ain’t gonna reimburse you sh**! Spread the word about their ripoff!

  33. leo on January 4th, 2010 11:27 pm

Tama si Winston, cheaters ang globe. Hindi lang cheater kundi scammer pa. Kahit disconnected ka na you are charged for what you have not used. if the 15 minute costs you 5 pesos, then when you have passed the 15 minute interval, let’s say naka 16 minutes ka na, bigla na lang mawawala ang connection. That means to say you are charged another 5 pesos agad. Di ba kalokohan to? Dito sila nag-iiscam.

  35. maxtor on January 5th, 2010 9:27 pm

I wish Sen. Enrile uses Globe Tattoo at least once so he could initiate a senate investigation on this false advertisements. Just like the one on SMS logos something…

  36. anna gimenez on January 6th, 2010 3:39 pm

Grabe talaga ang GLOBE! My fons are BARRED from spams, advertisements, 4-digit ads/offers from Globe…. yet they put in those ringtones which we only deleted each time. But when the bill came, they charged for those ringtones. When I complained Globe reimbursed the last bill. But never reimbursed the bill before that. I followed up and the CRO named Cali Bernal said that they only reimbursed one as it was a complimentary gesture. EVEN IF MY FON WAS BARRED FROM THESE OFFERS! How they can twist matters to suit them. I am going to file this with NTC……..I pray you do too……Bother to file so Globe’s “activities” can be addressed by the authorities.

    yea umm…

im a foreigner visiting manila for a couple of weeks to take care of some work.

so i got this little tattoo usb dongle… what a joke! everything people say above is true. constant disconnects, very very poor speed when it does work… if i had to rate it i would give it a 0/10 :P

so tomorrow morning, off i go to get a smart bro dongle…

no more pesos for you globe.

    well done!

  40. spidergrrl on January 18th, 2010 4:33 am

I’ve written about Globe’s crappy service on FB and in the comments section of one of Jessica Zafra’s posts on the matter, and now I’m back to say that Globe still really, really sucks. I’m actually tempted to throw my Globe dongle at the nearest wall right now because I’m so angry and frustrated at their lack of service. Tomorrow I’m going to go out, bite the bullet, and buy myself a Smart dongle instead. I know Smart sucks, too, but till Sun manages to get their 3G service up and running in the Lower Antipolo area, I’ll have to grin and bear it.

To anyone who is thinking of buying a Globe Tattoo or getting any products from the Globe list, I seriously suggest you DON’T. Go for Smart or Sun instead.

  41. json on January 25th, 2010 2:07 am

with Globe Tattoo/Visibility signal on the first was really sucks but as of now the signals are better this time even when you connect at noon time you would still be able to connect at the speed of 1Mbps, I just wonder if its going to stay like this or will it go back again where you are already connected but the site just keeps on loading and never came up, the most disappointing is that if you are using prepaid you’re P5 was already deducted once you connected but did not get to see the website you are trying to open……….

  42. dragon on January 25th, 2010 1:32 pm

okay. attention globe tattoo. kindly send me a unit and i will test run it on different sites/locii and will re-review it!

WHat to do???? I need help urgently!

  44. summer on January 28th, 2010 7:01 am

i got charged a lot too when i used my globe post paid sim in my globe tattoo. how does this happen? so globe can just let you use Internet even if it exceeds your plan limit? isn’t it supposed to be cut once you exceed your limit? this is preposterous! they cannot do this to customers and just keep on charging them. what to do with this crappy globe?

globe tattoo….soooooooooooooooooooooo sllooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. i plan to buy postpaid plan but i changed my mind. good thing i tested the service by borrowing a globe broadband from a friend. not worth it.

  47. Bismark on March 2nd, 2010 4:44 pm

    @Jane/ @summer
Make sure you’re being charged based on time used instead of data download volume. Text TIME to 1111 to activate time-based browsing. Charging rate is P5 for every 15 minutes of usage.

15 minutes is counted starting from the time of your first connection. E.g. you first connected at 7:00 a.m., then got disconnected at 7:07 a.m. (whether intentional on your part or because Globe dropped the connection), then you reconnect at 7:09 a.m. and use it until 7:14 a.m. (disconnecting before 7:15 a.m.)

In this case, you will only be charged P5 since the 15-minute “block” started at 7:00 a.m. and lasts until 7:15 a.m. (I always disconnect before the “block” ends. Say if you click on “Disconnect” only at 7:15 a.m. or even at 7:14.55, by the time the disconnect command reaches Globe, it will already have been past 7:15 a.m. and Globe will already charge you for the second 15-minute block.

My guess is that you got charged a lot because you were on a per-kb usage browsed charging scheme. At P0.15/kb, and assuming a modest 100 MB browsing volume for one month, it will cost roughly P15,360 already. Using time-based browsing, and assuming you are NOT connected 24/7 and just connect for 2 hours per day, that would cost P1,200 per 30-day month, irregardless of volume of data downloaded/ uploaded.

That being said, you might opt for a postpaid subscription if you are really using it that much. I’m NOT advocating/ recommending you to do so though.

My experience with Globe Tattoo for the last few days has been utterly miserable. Speeds are very inconsistent (sometimes only a GPRS signal is available, sometimes there is no signal at all). I’m connecting while on the 20th floor of a Pasig-based building.
