A drop in new home construction made investors jittery about the economic recovery and wary profit outlooks weighed on the technology sector. However, data showing initial construction of new single-family homes fell to a six-month low in October was not enough to kill this bull, as buyers came in at this dip.
Bouncing Boy PX takes the lead from MER TEL, trading 356m worth, and rising 1.25 to 16.50 worth 10 psei points. Add to this volume of MER 239m, and TEL, 231m, ANI 171M, and you total 1Billion pesos, or 1/3 of the day's total lackluster trade.
MER came only 2nd among the index gainers, with an 8 peso gain to 224 worth 9 psei points on speculation, OR HOPE of a tender spurred by the noise being made by Winston Garcia.
Only a few index stocks lost ground: MEG SM RLC ICT URC FGEN.
Overall best gainer was ANI at 29.50, AB/B 54.5/55 (after fellow ongpin backdoor MRAY announces it will be a backdoor entry for Alpha land), PX, PNX 6.50, ISM .055.
Top losers were: PRIM 1.96, OV .015, NI 6, OPM .015, ACR 1.26,
Lepanto/Manila mining attempt to rise in early trade on rehashed news about talks with the mvp group but nothing really materializing yet. Both stocks close much lower.
