Great Christmas gift ideas (part 1)

1 October 2008

Its October once again… perfect time to start planning for Christmas gifts.  I know, i know… how can I think about spending for Christmas gifts when financial instability prevails.  But that's the whole point of this series, to suggest gifts that are thoughtful, useful and most importantly not so expensive.

One way to add a unique touch to your gifts without putting a strain on your hard earned pesos is to give personalized items.  There are so many personalized items out in the malls.  The more common  of which are cups, mugs, hats, towels, mousepads, keychains, etc.  But let me share with you other newer and unique items I've seen.

Funny B: Kids don’t lie (Part 2)

27 June 2008

Funny B and I were playing a round of "Name something that starts with letter __".  But the criteria was something found in my face.  She started off with "Name something that starts with letter N".  So I answered "Nose!" She asked again, "Name something that starts with the letter M".  I said "Mouth!"  Then she asked, "Name something that starts with the letter P".  Hmm??? P??? P??? Think, think, think…..

Finally, I said "I give up, what's the answer?"…  She pointed at my face and said "PIMPLES!" Furious

Funny B: Kids don’t lie

18 June 2008

Last week, my cousin Mei, who is based in Shanghai, came to the Philippines for a visit.  She stayed with us for a few days and was home with Funny B most of the time.  When Mei went back home to Shanghai, she met up with my sister D-E.  Mei then sent some pictures of her get-together with D-E.  Boss D saw the pics and commented that Mei looks a lot like me.  But Funny B vehemently denied it.  She said: "They do not look a like noh?  Look at mom! Look! (pointing at me)"  I beamed back thinking that she is going to say that her mom is prettier than her aunt.  But instead, she said " Look, mom's face is full of pimples!!! (her finger pointing all over my face)  And Aunt Mei's face is smooth and has no pimples!!!"  OUCH!Cry

The Funny B Code

20 May 2008

Whenever we are talking about funny B while she's around,  we speak in codes.  But its so hard to speak in codes when your little girl is growing up…

When she was one, we spoke without codes at all.

But when she was one turning two, she can understand English, Tagalog and Fukien.

So when she was two going three, we spoke in Mandarin.

But then she started school and learned Mandarin.

So when she was three going four, we spelled out the words.

But now she can read and can spell.  There's no escaping her eyes and ears whenever we talk about her.  And she asks so many questions too!!! Sigh….

29 April 2008

Here are some great sites that are suitable for your toddlers and kids.  There are on-line games and activities that can be printed out.  Funny B loves to play with these games and I think that these sites helped her learn how to read, speak English correctly and now, she is starting to learn how to spell.  I've bookmarked these pages so that she can go to them easily.

Playhouse Disney: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, My Friends Tigger and Pooh, Higglytown Heroes, Little Einsteins, etc.
