Funny B: Kids don’t lie (Part 2)

27 June 2008

Funny B and I were playing a round of "Name something that starts with letter __".  But the criteria was something found in my face.  She started off with "Name something that starts with letter N".  So I answered "Nose!" She asked again, "Name something that starts with the letter M".  I said "Mouth!"  Then she asked, "Name something that starts with the letter P".  Hmm??? P??? P??? Think, think, think…..

Finally, I said "I give up, what's the answer?"…  She pointed at my face and said "PIMPLES!" Furious

Funny B: Kids don’t lie

18 June 2008

Last week, my cousin Mei, who is based in Shanghai, came to the Philippines for a visit.  She stayed with us for a few days and was home with Funny B most of the time.  When Mei went back home to Shanghai, she met up with my sister D-E.  Mei then sent some pictures of her get-together with D-E.  Boss D saw the pics and commented that Mei looks a lot like me.  But Funny B vehemently denied it.  She said: "They do not look a like noh?  Look at mom! Look! (pointing at me)"  I beamed back thinking that she is going to say that her mom is prettier than her aunt.  But instead, she said " Look, mom's face is full of pimples!!! (her finger pointing all over my face)  And Aunt Mei's face is smooth and has no pimples!!!"  OUCH!Cry

The Funny B Code

20 May 2008

Whenever we are talking about funny B while she's around,  we speak in codes.  But its so hard to speak in codes when your little girl is growing up…

When she was one, we spoke without codes at all.

But when she was one turning two, she can understand English, Tagalog and Fukien.

So when she was two going three, we spoke in Mandarin.

But then she started school and learned Mandarin.

So when she was three going four, we spelled out the words.

But now she can read and can spell.  There's no escaping her eyes and ears whenever we talk about her.  And she asks so many questions too!!! Sigh….

Internet Fun for Kids: Playhouse Disney, NickJr, Barney, Starfall, etc.

29 April 2008

Here are some great sites that are suitable for your toddlers and kids.  There are on-line games and activities that can be printed out.  Funny B loves to play with these games and I think that these sites helped her learn how to read, speak English correctly and now, she is starting to learn how to spell.  I've bookmarked these pages so that she can go to them easily.

Playhouse Disney: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, My Friends Tigger and Pooh, Higglytown Heroes, Little Einsteins, etc.

Youngest entrepreneur I know: How to Make Money This Summer

29 April 2008

If Funny B is known for her comical quips and side comments, her cousin… let's call her Smarty A… is known for her sharp mind and quick wit.  Smarty A is 5 years old turning 6 next month.

Smarty A likes to buy stuff whenever she goes out to the malls.  Her parents, trying to teach her not to be careless with money, told her that she can not buy everything that she wants.   And that she needs to save money before buying a certain item.  So Smarty A told them… "I will sell lemonade to my cousins, uncles and aunties when they come here on Sundays, and then I will have money!!!"  A businesswoman at six!!! Money mouth

Funny B: Do you see what I see?

15 April 2008

Last Sunday morning, Funny B and I were reading fairy tales while she drank her milk.  I finished reading three stories already and she still did not finish drinking her milk.  So I told her, "I will not tell you any more stories until you finish drinking your milk".  I then removed my eyeglasses to give my eyes some rest.  Then she asked me why I needed to wear eyeglasses and I told her that I cannot see without my eyeglasses.  She started to ask me another question but I cut her off and just reminded her that she should drink her milk.

AVERTING YAYA FROM HELL

5 April 2008

It was a day after we terminated the services of Mico’s yaya, on grounds of stealing, that our young niece disclosed to me an even more appalling fact: the sorry-excuse-for-a-human-being I had entrusted my second-born preschooler’s welfare with had been filching him of his leftover daily allowance to fund her ‘tong-its habit’!  On nights my in-laws (with whom my husband and I would leave our 2 sons while we went off to work) were expected late, Mico’s Ate Tini would come home from school to find him slumped crying in one corner of her bedroom after his vile nanny had forcibly snatched his money to gamble with the other household help.  He told his cousin that his yaya would even threaten him bodily harm should he resist or, much worse, ‘squeal’ on her.

Sunlife Sales Executive and mom Joselyn Tiu also thought she hit the jackpot when she chanced upon a nanny who could also cook     delectable Chinese dishes.  Later would she realize that, after also terminating the woman’s service, her then-grade school daughter and son, were suffering verbal abuse and threats courtesy of their assigned custodian if they failed to finish all the food she prepared for them.

Fatty Mom, Funny B and Bikram Yoga Manila

28 March 2008

What are the signs that one's fat?  In my case, when my four year old daughter, Funny B, tells me:

"Mom, you should go Yoga na, you look so fat."

"Mom, you said last night, you were going to yoga today.  Why are you still here?"

"Mom, are you going to eat that whole bag of chicharon??!!?? Look at your tummy!!! It's so big na!!! You want to have a big tummy like Gwakong?" (gwakong - her grandpa who has Santa Claus like belly Laughing)

So due to insistent Funny B's demand, I have gone back to Bikram Yoga Manila's yoga classes.  I stopped attending classes December last year.  Had been planning to go back this January but laziness and fatigue set in.
