At What Level Will The PSE Index Bottom Out?
where oh where is the bottom? I guess when the global markets moves on from the fear of recession to accepting there is a recession. then from the aftermath of massive selling exposing a scorched earth landscape of the market, a brave few will notice some companies are still turning in a profit, these are the companies rising from the ashes and these brave few will slowly be buying again.
It is not necessary to try to catch the absolute PSE bottom. Doing that would be just luck anyway.
In my view, picking the exact stocks to buy is more important. GLO may go down further from where I bought it late last week but that was already a good price, and the cash div yield, even assuming lower 2009 eps and cash div payout, will still be quite good, better than T-bills. Pick'em well and hold'em. This is an opportunity not quite as good as buying during the week immediately after Marcos left the Philippines in 1986, but it's still one of the opportunities of a lifetime. If you still have cash at this point.
boss AnteD, I agree that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity......like what I have written before if the DOW or phisix for that matter returns to their Oct 2007 highs, it is not impossible to double or nearly triple your money....
my recommendation would be
1) do not look at the market for the whole week starting Monday 2) Take a quick look at the market on the week after.....check if the market is still the same... 3) if the market hasn't improved on the 2nd week, then take a vacation and start looking at it come January 2009. 4) the more you look at the market the more painful it gets at this point in time. let it run it's due course. just as long as you don't owe anything....no worries at all.
quote moneywhiz: it is not impossible to double or nearly triple your money....
very very true, and I agree with ante about picking the right stock and at these low bargain prices its a steal, and getting ipit with the right stock with regular dividends eases the pain. and somehow once you're commited in taking that action to buy, just walk away and not be distraught if prices still drop. is it the end for ali?, tel?, glo? meg? smph? jfc? agi?....there is no doubt in everyones minds these companies will still be around even when all this financial mess blows over. then its just back to waiting for that time to decide when to buy....the lowest possible entry, becomes the gamble or investment?
a warning though. Companies who pay out high dividends can cut their dividends anytime if deem by management as necessary. In this economic environment, many US companies already slashed their dividends which resulted in more downward bias in their share prices.
and they do this WITHOUT warning. Im thinking this also applies to Philippine companies
