DOW    11.86 +0.11% 10,564.38
NASDAQ 8.47 +0.36% 2,340.68
S&P 500  1.94 +0.17% 1,140.44

Wall Street still flat, while PSEi still managing to rally on good NFB.

TOTAL FOREIGN BUYING   : P  1,401,553,459.25
TOTAL FOREIGN SELLING  : P    907,404,025.25

As with yesterday’s tally, TEL’s 303m nfb was again largely responsible for the net foreign buy side, joined by PX 63M, GLO 23M, MBT 105M, EDC 17M, ALI 47M, and that’s about it.

For the NFS equities we have: RLC 29M, AEV 10M, AP 43M  (but still high at 12), SCC 34M.

There were only 6 index stock decliners: ALI BDO MWC SM ICT MEG, plus some unchanged, with 1/3 minor gainers led by aev smc edc tel.

Lackluster sideways Wall Street = Lackluster Sideways Global Equities. See, understanding this market is fairly easy, making money on it is not.

Getting the next hottest tip or breakout signal then getting whipsawed, doing number crunching and coming up with cheap valuations yet stocks like FPH refuse to budge for 5 months, how will we have known unless we have bought JGS, AP SINO today? These three top gainers JGS 8 (up on Cebu Pac IPO prospects), AP 11.75, SINO .32 (up on APC’s rise to .64 but inability to surpass .65 resistance), were joined by index heavies FGEN 9.9 MWC 11.50, EDC 4.80, in a day where you either had these on hand previously or you didn’t.

A good bountiful day for the bulls worldwide as we follow Dow’s breaking of 10,500 on what was interpreted by the market to be better than expected jobs loss data.

2/3 of the local pseindex stocks were gainers led by MER MBT AC ICT AEV SM, while only 3 managed to lose only a little: TEL ALI HLCM.  TEL was even flat at 2675 but this somehow managed to contribute .86 lost psei points.

Over at the net foreign tally counter: the banks BPI MBT AC ALI AGI MER SM SMPH TEL had strong NFB, leaving only AP EDC registering NFS of 20m php each.

Bulls versus Bears Round 3. Bulls win, managing to sieze another flatline to close half a percent higher, setting the tone for Asia.

In local trading, stoneage PSEi’s trading was pushed back over an hour as technical glitches marred our system again.

Gains in the PSEi weakened to about just +17 near the close, but did you know that at the last second, a staged index pumping propped up the index by 35 points. Force closed bluechips (most were already higher anyway): MER ALI ALI EDC BPI MBT JFC SM SMPH AC

S&P 500 0.48 +0.04% 1,118.79

Still the same hanging man or doji tops occurring in Wall Street despite “advances” in resolution of the Greek Tragedy, plus some encouraging economic data.

Leading the day’s drop were TEL 2655 MER 170, both losing 17 points for the index, joined by ALI 10.75  JFC 54 EDC 4.6 bpi 44.5, these four contributing 15 psei lost points.  Those aforementioned already largely made up for the index loss, all while some select second liners chugged on the bull train: MEG 1.32, FLI .90, AGI 5.20, MPI 3.

Some good gains on good volume: IP 2.02, SMDC 5.80, ALCO .22.  IMI even lost to 9.70 before recovering to 11.25.

Global pattern: wait and see head scratching and selling unto rallies now.  This was also evident in last night’s Dow Industrials, trekking north of 50 points then closing flat.

Our own PSEi tried to open high, then entered negative territory, before some literal last second bluechip pumping pushed us back into the green and black.

Even TEL announcing a 140 peso cash dividend had a muted effect for only a 10 peso gain at 2685, probably because the stock already ran a few days in advance for those in the know.  JFC’s steady advance to 58.5 this time was worth 2 psei points like TEL, followed by other slight index gainers AEV BEL MEG SMPH PCOR

So, wall street treks higher still, but Asia forms a mountain. Climbing higher at the onset, but immediately diving to negative territory.

Locally, Lopez stocks FPH FGEN MPI led the rally.

From the supposed re extension of deadline to finalize the Meralco takeover last February 28, the latest disclosure now states that the option agreement could be exercised during the period from March 15, 2010 to May 15, 2010. In layman’s terms, the deal that was already agreed upon now has been agreed to be paid, but not yet paid!

With wall street holding firm and flat, Asia took it upon itself to stage an impressive rally, now almost retracing all its recent losses.

Local bluechips were quite aggressive, with TEL leading the way at 2660 for a 60 peso run worth 15 psei points.  It was joined by JGS ALI RLC MEG FLI as leaders.  Few index losers were JFC SMPH MBT BPI, each losing about one fluctuation only.

Best gainers were riddled with small caps except for JGS 7.30, the others in the top 10 were LND .48, BHI ALCO CEI SUN.  ACR returns to top 10 loser slot at .97.
