How to stream video from Win 7 to PS3 or XBOX

December 1, 2009 by dragon · Leave a Comment

Previously, we offered an article on how to stream media from your PC's Win XP to your PS3 using a program called Tversity.  With the suave new Windows 7, sharing without using any third party programs could never be easier.

The first thing you should do is switch both your ps3 and pc on.

With the PS3 you should navigate the XMB to Settings. Then right at the bottom go into Network Settings. Once again at the bottom is Media Server Connection. Click this and Enable.

Now navigate back to the Video menu. You should now see "Search for Media Servers" and possible the name of a computer/server on your network.

You've often wondered what icon that is in your Sony PS3 that says "media server".   Well, it is a built in application that allows the PS3 to stream videos from your computer and display it on your TV.

What's needed:
PS3, PC with (wired) lan, Router, media server software like Tversity – Release 1.0.0.8a RC5 ( November 27, 2008 )(free), and most importantly: some know-how in moving files, and port forwarding from your router to the PC.

Note that the program TVersity, to be installed into your PC, can also stream files, photos, videos and music not just to your PS3, but also to your PSP, Iphone, Blackberry, Xbox, Wii, Some Nokia phones like 770/N800,

How to know if Xbox 360 is a Falcon free from 3rod rrod

This Easter Holiday, I had a chance to lay my fingers on my brother in law's much hyped over Xbox played on LCD.

However, he is lucky since he usually plays under cold temperatures.  XBoxes are known to suffer the so called RROD, or 3rod, which means red rings of death, or 3 rings of death.  This is a led light signal that your console would no longer function and has probably literally melted down due to processor overheating.

Microsoft suffered heavily for this, turning off would be buyers, and promising to warranty those older models, at the same time reducing prices drastically.  That Sony Playstation PS3's original only blueray disc games was not enough to keep Xboxes on top of Nintendo Wii in the console race.  I wonder what is the future for Xbox now that the blueray code has been cracked, and fake blueray ps3 games will now foreseeably flood the market by around 2009?
